About

Since its inception in the 1970s, UNICAMP's Faculty of Education has been a center of encouragement and support for the creation of scientific journals, initiatives by faculty members linked to academic associations or various research groups and laboratories.

In the early 1980s, “Gráfica FE” received requests for publications from the Faculty of Education and, in 1995, it was accredited as “Editora FE-UNICAMP” by the National ISBN Agency of the National Library Foundation. Between 1995 and 2005, the editorial prefix “86091” was used to request 100 ISBNs and, since 2005, the new editorial prefix “7713” has been responsible for the assignment of more than 230 ISBNs.

With configurations that have changed over the last few decades, several groups formed by researchers and technical-administrative staff sought to build a publishing project with editorial policies that would guide the management and dissemination of scientific journals, in addition to the production of studies and research by the faculty members of this Faculty. These groups also invested so that FE's production would enjoy academic recognition in various instances of the educational field and would be duly accredited by scientific societies.

Several initiatives were taken to give greater notoriety to this production, including the creation of an editorial center and affiliation with the Brazilian Association of University Presses – ABEU.

In 2015, with the transfer of the Publications Sector to the FE Library, the FE Board invited the editors-in-chief of FE journals, the postgraduate coordination and the FE Library coordination to study the various types of publications produced by the Faculty of Education and suggest policies for them. Order FE 24/2017 provisionally established a “Publications Advisory Board” and an “Editorial Board of the FE-UNICAMP Publishing House” with the task of developing studies to formally establish the FE-Unicamp Publishing House and its respective Editorial Board, as well as the Publications Advisory Board, proposing operating rules, specific regulations and complementary documents.

Currently, the FE-UNICAMP Press relies on the technical support of the Prof. Joel Martins Library and the “Publications Department”. All technical-academic works are produced in digital format, following the bibliographic standards required for scientific rigor.
