Objective of the Event

The Workshop “Theater-Forum: Dramaturgies & Jokering” aims to offer practical-theoretical training through games and exercises that will lead participants to understand the dramaturgical structure and create Forum Theater scenes, one of the most widely used techniques in the world from Augusto Boal's Theater of the Oppressed!
This workshop will provide an overview of the procedures for "converting" the spectator into a "spectator," explaining the "wildcard function" and rehearsal techniques for preparing actors to improvise with the audience. It is hoped that after studying the Theatre of the Oppressed system, participants will be able to use the Aesthetics of the Oppressed as a path to interpreting reality and social change.
The workshop will be taught by Licko Turle, an actor, director, and theater professor who, along with Augusto Boal (and four other members), founded the Center for Theater of the Oppressed in Rio de Janeiro and participated in the development of the Legislative Theater technique. Licko Turle holds a master's and doctorate in Performing Arts from UNIRIO and a bachelor's degree in Theater (UNESA) and Literature (UERJ). As an actor, professor, curator, and guest observer, he has performed in over 20 countries. He is currently the artistic director of the Bahia Center for Theater Studies (CTO) (CTO) (Center for the Study of the Oppressed), a professor at the Célia Helena School of Arts (São Paulo), and a professor of the Distance Learning Theater Program at UFBA (Federal University of Bahia). He is a research fellow at the GESTO/CNPq (Center for Studies in Theater of the Oppressed).
