PIBID – Institutional Program of Teaching Initiation Scholarships

O  PIBID – Institutional Program of Teaching Initiation Scholarships – is a CAPES/MEC program, which aims to promote the initiation of teaching among students from federal, state and municipal higher education institutions, improving the quality of their teacher training in a full undergraduate degree course and contributing to raising the quality standard of elementary and high schools.

This program began to be implemented at UNICAMP in 2010 and is under the responsibility of the Permanent Commission for Teacher Training (CPFP), linked to the Central Undergraduate Commission of the Pro-Rectory of Undergraduate Studies at UNICAMP.

UNICAMP has 24 undergraduate courses, covering several areas of knowledge such as: Physics, Chemistry, Integrated Physics-Chemistry, Mathematics, Philosophy, Sociology, History, Geography, Literature, Physical Education, Nursing, Biological Sciences, Visual Arts, Music, Dance and Pedagogy.

Taking into account the specific characteristics of each course, the perspective of teacher training present in the various pedagogical projects has some principles in common, such as: strengthening ties between universities and basic schools, especially in the public sector; enhancing spaces that integrate students from different teacher training courses; providing professional training contexts in which investigative experience as well as reflection on political, social and cultural aspects of educational action that takes place in the daily life of basic education are present. Based on these principles, SPFP has been encouraging the participation of various courses in federal and state calls for proposals.

A PIBID project is underway at UNICAMP, namely:

PIBID/UNICAMP has been carrying out numerous internship actions for teaching initiation in a partnership between the university and public schools, with the aim of facilitating the production of knowledge and expertise that affects not only our undergraduate students and area coordinators and internship advisors for different undergraduate disciplines, but also high school and elementary school students and school professionals involved in supervising pedagogical work.

We believe that UNICAMP's participation in PIBID can create a university culture that values teacher training, as occurs with PIBIC in relation to scientific initiation. We also emphasize our understanding that teacher training is also scientific training and that PIBID has been reinforcing this concept by providing a significant set of experiences of initiation to teaching intertwined with academic-scientific training processes.

In this sense, we have been involved with this project since 2013.

In 2013, NOTICE 061-2013 referred to a project composed of 16 subprojects that encompass the following undergraduate degrees (some of them in continuation of the first announcement): 1. Bachelor's Degree in Pedagogy, Literature and Dance; 2. Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy, Pedagogy, Social Sciences and History; 3. Bachelor's Degree in Geography; 4. Bachelor's Degree in Literature; 5. Integrated Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry-Physics and Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences; and 6. Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry. (The 2013 documents were kept on this page for historical record purposes)

In 2018, a set of changes to the program were announced, but even so, the Faculty of Education was present in three UNICAMP sub-projects:

Pedagogy Sub-Project

Natural Sciences Sub-Project

Philosophy Sub-Project

The result of the selection process for PIBID 2018 will be announced soon.
