CAPES/CNPq Scholarships

The scholarships, financed by funding agencies (CAPES and CNPq) and made available by the Postgraduate Program in Education (PPGE) at Unicamp, are exclusively aimed at students enrolled in the Academic Master's and Doctorate courses at the Faculty of Education, classified on the waiting list generated in the Scholarship Selection Process (click here), which occurs regularly at the beginning of each school year.

Summary process for awarding scholarships:

Announcement – ​​PROEX/CAPES Temporary Grants

We inform you that temporary scholarships, granted with CAPES/PROEX resources, follow the following criteria:

  • When a permanent scholarship becomes available for award, it will automatically be allocated to a student holding a temporary scholarship.
  • the temporary grant released, if there are still installments available, will then be allocated following the current waiting list.
  • This process will be repeated successively, depending on the availability of scholarships.

They may be admitted as scholarship holders (CAPES/PROEX, CNPq):

  • All students enrolled in PPGE-Unicamp:
    • Students without employment ties will have priority in receiving the scholarship;
    • Students with employment ties who meet the regulations will remain on the waiting list, and may only be awarded a scholarship after there are no more candidates without employment ties.

Current Scholarship Recipients

CAPES: students CAPES scholarship holders that publish or present research-related papers must use the following expressions (in the language of the work) in the work to be presented:

“This study was financed in part by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel – Brazil (CAPES) – Finance Code 001”.

CNPq: students CNPq scholarship holders that publish or present research-related papers must use the following expressions (in the language of the work) in the work to be presented:

a) if published individually:

“This work was carried out with the support of CNPq, National Council for Scientific and Technological Development – ​​Brazil”.

b) if published in co-authorship:

“CNPq Scholarship Holder – Brazil”.


Scholarship Committee

The Scholarship Committee is an advisory body to the Graduate Studies Committee (CPG) and is composed of three faculty representatives associated with three different Research Lines, and student representatives appointed by the APG. The committee is chaired by the graduate studies coordinator.

The Scholarship Committee is responsible for:

  • operationalize decisions on scholarships taken by the CPG;
  • carry out the general classification of scholarship candidates, after the classification carried out by each area of ​​concentration;
  • monitor the scholarship holders’ periodic reports;
  • propose improvements to the process and other measures to the CPG.

In addition to the master's and doctoral scholarships administered by the Program, postgraduate students can pursue the following options:

It offers master's, doctoral and direct doctoral scholarships.

Requests must be made directly to the agency, by the postgraduate student together with his/her supervisor.

The Student Support Service (SAE), a student support and assistance body at Unicamp, provides assistance with housing, food, transportation and culture.
