The Professional Master's Program in School Education at FE/UNICAMP is a form of professional and continuing education aimed at education professionals. This is a type of postgraduate training. stricto sensu, composed of studies, works and research activities applied to professional practice. It takes on its own characteristics as it is opposed :
a) lato sensu extension courses, whose specificities are provided for in the Law of Guidelines and Bases (9394/1996) and indicate that these should be open “to the participation of the population, aiming at the dissemination of the achievements and benefits resulting from the cultural creation and scientific and technological research generated at the institution;” Unicamp regulates and provides that specialization courses are aimed at graduates, have a minimum workload of 360 class hours, and aim to provide specialization “in restricted sectors of academic and professional activities. It is considered, based on the analysis of Unicamp's internal rules that, despite being based on the LDB, they do not comply with CES/CNE Resolution No. 01 of 08/06/2007 and may not be recognized by the public sector as a means of career advancement.
b) The academic master's degree, which, as indicated by CAPES, is essentially aimed at training for an academic career, as set out in the 1996 LDBE and the 2014 PNE.
