University Extension Actions
University Extension Actions must consider the following guidelines, according to National Extension Policy:
I – Dialogic Interaction;
II – Interdisciplinarity and Interprofessionality;
III – Inseparability of Teaching-Research-Extension;
IV – Impact on Student Training;
V – Social Impact and Transformation.
Extension Programs and Projects
The following definitions of Extension Program and Project are adopted, according to the Forum of Pro-Rectors of Extension of Brazilian Public Universities – FORPROEX:
I – Extension Program: “An articulated set of projects and other extension actions (courses, events, provision of services), preferably integrating these actions with research and teaching. It has an organic-institutional character, clear guidelines and orientation towards a common objective, being executed in the medium and long term”;
II – Extension Project: “Procedural and continuous action of an educational, social, cultural, scientific or technological nature, with a specific objective and a set deadline”. It may or may not be linked to a program.
Every Extension Program must:
I – Have a teaching coordinator from the staff of the Faculty of Education;
II – To be submitted by the responsible teacher through the Extension Management System (ExteCult) from ProEEC (Vice-Rectory of Extension, Sports and Culture);
III – Be approved by the Department of the responsible teacher, by the Extension Committee of the Faculty of Education (CEFE), by the Congregation of the Faculty of Education, by the Executive Council of Extension (CONEXT) and by the Chamber of Teaching, Research and Extension (CEPE).
Every Extension Project must:
I – Have a teaching coordinator from the staff of the Faculty of Education;
I – To be submitted by the responsible teacher through the Extension Management System (ExteCult) from ProEEC (Vice-Rectory of Extension, Sports and Culture);
III – Be approved by the Department of the responsible teacher, by the Extension Committee of the Faculty of Education (CEFE) and by the Congregation of the Faculty of Education.

Extension Curricularization Activities
According to CNE/CES Resolution No. 7/2018, which establishes the Guidelines for Extension in Brazilian Higher Education, extension activities must make up at least 10% (ten percent) of the total student curricular workload of undergraduate courses, which must be part of the curricular matrix of the courses.
As integration activities between teaching and extension in undergraduate studies must meet the following principles, as per Resolution CEPE-A-22/2021:
I – Contribution to the student’s comprehensive education, including as a critical and responsible citizen;
II – Establishment of constructive and transformative dialogue with other sectors of society, respecting and promoting interculturality;
III– Promotion of initiatives that express the social commitment of higher education institutions to all areas, especially communication, culture, human rights and justice, education, environment, health, technology and production, and work, in line with policies linked to guidelines for environmental education, ethnic-racial education, human rights and indigenous education;
IV – Promotion of ethical reflection on the social dimension of teaching and research;
V – Encouragement of the academic and technical community’s actions in contributing to addressing issues facing Brazilian society, including through economic, social and cultural development;
VI – Support for ethical principles that express the social commitment of each higher education institution;
VII – Acting in the production and construction of updated and coherent knowledge, aimed at social, equitable, sustainable development, with the Brazilian reality.
All Extension Curricularization Activities must be submitted to the Faculty of Education Extension Committee (CEFE), using a form to be made available by the Extension, Events and Special Projects Coordination., at the beginning of each academic semester, on a date to be defined every six months by the Extension Coordination and the Undergraduate Coordinations of the Faculty of Education, so that they can be counted and registered.
