FE receives delegation from the Catholic University of Temuco (Chile) and advances dialogue for a South-South cooperation agreement.

UCT and FE have begun discussions for a future cooperation and exchange agreement along the South-South axis, with the potential to benefit faculty, students, and staff.

On January 28, 2026, the Faculty of Education at Unicamp (FE-Unicamp) hosted a delegation from the Universidad Católica de Temuco (UCT) in Chile for an institutional meeting aimed at strengthening academic partnerships and initiating discussions for a future cooperation and exchange agreement. The visit is part of FE's internationalization plan, with an emphasis on South-South cooperation and the establishment of scientific and cultural cooperation between Latin American institutions.

Representing UCT were Prof. Dr. Daniel Rozas Vásquez (Director of International Relations), Prof. Dr. Vanessa Valdebenito (Director, Faculty of Education), Prof. Dr. Claudia Bascuñán (Director, Faculty of Health Sciences), and Ms. Marcelina Huenulao (Internationalization Unit at Home, International Relations Office). Representing Unicamp were the director of FE-Unicamp, Prof. Dr. Debora Cristina Jeffrey; the coordinator of the Multi-Unit Graduate Program in Science and Mathematics Education (PECIM), Prof. Dr. Ivana Elena Camejo Aviles; the associate coordinator of the Center for Memory of Education, Prof. Dr. Inês Ferreira de Souza Bragança; and professors from the Department of Educational Psychology at FE-Unicamp, Dr. Lilian Cristine Ribeiro Nascimento and Dr. Ana Maria Falcão de Aragão. The Technical Coordinator of the Unit, Tassiane Bragagnolo Pedron; the Technical Assistant for Research Support and Scientific Dissemination, Lucas Ferreira dos Santos; the Technical Assistant for Extension Support, Juliana Marques Lourenço; the Art, Culture and Communication Professional, Dr. Marco Aurélio Pinotti Catalão; and the International Cooperation Assistant, Dr. Daniel Cantinelli Sevillano.

The meeting focused on the prospect of an "umbrella" institutional agreement, capable of enabling specific collaborations between groups and programs in later stages. Information was shared about the academic structure and research lines of the Faculty of Education, as well as about Extension and continuing education initiatives. The visit program also indicated priority areas for a cooperation agenda: student and academic mobility, Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), applied research, and joint Postgraduate programs, in alignment with the strategies of each unit involved.

Highlighting the convergence of interests between the institutions, Professor Dr. Daniel Rozas Vásquez pointed out that cooperation can be organized starting with a general agreement, followed by thematic academic collaborations: “one idea we can establish is to try to reach a general agreement first, and, based on that agreement, specific collaborations.” Marcelina Huenulao emphasized the importance of consolidating connections with Brazil and strengthening formative dimensions that permeate contemporary internationalization, such as intercultural dialogue and language learning, from a perspective of respect for diversity.

Following the institutional meeting, the delegation visited the FE-Unicamp facilities, including the Prof. Joel Martins Library, as part of a tour to familiarize themselves with the campus and its support structures for teaching, research, and academic life.
