These actions are part of Unicamp's internationalization program, coordinated by DERI, and strengthen the Faculty of Education's role in civic and socially engaged education.
During a technical visit in October, the Faculty of Education at Unicamp (FE-Unicamp) and the Higher School of Economics (HSE University) – Saint Petersburg, Russia, signed an academic cooperation plan that includes the translation and publication, by the FE-Unicamp Press, of a book on social entrepreneurship methodologies, the development of joint articles and studies, and the integration of extension practices between faculty and students from both institutions. These actions, which will extend from October 2025 to February 2026, are the result of an initiative promoted by the Executive Directorate of International Relations (DERI-Unicamp) and represent a new step forward in the Faculty's internationalization process.

The initiatives aim to deepen the dialogue between the university and society, promoting teaching and research practices focused on sustainability, solidarity economy, and civic education. The partnership also intends to consolidate a model of university extension that articulates academic knowledge and social responsibility, expanding the university's formative role within different communities.
According to the director of the Faculty of Education, Professor Débora Jeffrey, the collaboration with the Russian university represents a significant step in consolidating FE-Unicamp's commitment to critical, socially responsible education committed to the public good. She stated that the partnership expands the possibilities for dialogue between academic knowledge and contemporary social demands, strengthening university extension as a space for learning, transformation, and collective responsibility.
“The experience of HSE Saint Petersburg brings valuable contributions on how the knowledge produced at the university can be transformed into social action. This partnership inspires us to strengthen the role of outreach as a structuring axis of teacher training, connecting theory, practice, and public commitment,” he stated.
Professor Guilherme do Val Toledo Prado, associate director of FE-Unicamp, highlighted that the meeting was an outgrowth of the visit made to Russia in the first semester by DERI and that it consolidates the alignment between the guidelines of the two institutions. “The visit reaffirms the convergence of principles between HSE and FE-Unicamp, especially from the perspective of developing actions that make learning more meaningful and socially committed. We are establishing the foundations for lasting cooperation, capable of transforming formative practices and broadening research and outreach horizons,” he emphasized.

The visit also resulted in an official invitation for the Faculty of Education to participate in an international event at HSE Saint Petersburg in May 2026, where partner universities will present experiences in outreach and social entrepreneurship. According to the faculty, the presence of FE-Unicamp at this meeting reinforces Unicamp's international visibility and opens the way for new opportunities for academic cooperation within the BRICS framework and research networks focused on social and educational innovation.
This action is part of a set of initiatives by DERI-Unicamp to strengthen the university's internationalization and promote partnerships that combine academic excellence and social impact, principles that guide Unicamp's work on the global stage.
