Computer Lab receives new computers

The acquisition of 15 new pieces of equipment modernizes the laboratory's infrastructure and expands access to technology for students.

The Computer Lab at Unicamp's School of Education (FE-Unicamp) has received 15 new computers as part of a process to modernize the unit's IT infrastructure. The new equipment was acquired through a five-year pilot lease project by the Information and Communication Technology Executive Board (Detic).

Receiving modern and reliable computers directly benefits the College's students. "The Computer Lab plays a significant role in the development of academic activities and student retention, especially since not everyone has access to these resources at home," stated Daniel C. Biscalchin, coordinator of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at FE-Unicamp.

The lab currently has 32 workstations spread across two rooms: the back room, which has 24 computers, 12 of which are new, and the front room, which contains eight computers, three of which are new. All equipment purchased features a 8th-generation Intel Core i3 processor, 5GB of RAM, a 14TB SSD, and Windows 32.

In addition to the workstations, the lab has three scanners, a monochrome printer, and will soon have a color printer, further expanding the resources available to the community.

Access to the lab is free, with no appointment required. The space is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 22:30 p.m., and is open to FE-Unicamp students and students of any other Unicamp undergraduate program, provided they are available.

Students who don't yet have a computer login can request one directly from the lab support team, where the technical team is always available to provide support. Printing quotas are available exclusively to students regularly enrolled in FE-Unicamp courses.

The receipt of the new computers demonstrates the Faculty of Education's commitment to offering quality resources to the entire academic community.
