It is with great enthusiasm that we announce the launch of the book “Meanings of Internationalization in Education: Impacts of Capes-PrInt on PPGE Unicamp”, a work organized by Professor Dr. Heloisa Helena Pimenta Rocha and the newly graduated doctors Rafael Limongelli and Mirele Corrêa.
The book offers a rich reflection on the effects of internationalization in the field of education. It contains seven reports from doctoral students at the School of Education at Unicamp who, over the last five years, participated in the Capes-PrInt program, developing sandwich doctoral internships in countries such as Portugal, Spain, France and Belgium.
The texts collected here bring to light the experiences and impressions of the scholarship holders, highlighting the academic and personal transformations that emerge when these researchers encounter new cultures, institutions and ways of thinking. These international experiences, far from being merely geographical displacements, reveal themselves as profound journeys of intellectual and subjective growth, where students not only seek answers to their research problems, but also broaden their questions and inquiries when coming into contact with different realities and modes of knowledge production.
The work is structured around two highly relevant research projects, financed by Capes-PrInt: “Educational practices, learning and teacher training in different contexts and languages”, under the coordination of Professor Heloísa Rocha, and “Public education policies, State and society: reverberations in human formation”, coordinated by Professor Nora Krawczyk. These projects provide the theoretical and methodological basis for authors to explore and debate central issues of contemporary education in dialogue with international contexts.
Each chapter reveals not only an academic advance, but also a narrative marked by the encounter with the “other”, with the unknown, which causes not only physical but also emotional and identity-related displacements. In this sense, the book represents internationalization as an integral formative process, which goes beyond the boundaries of academic knowledge and enters the field of emotions, subjectivity and identity of researchers.
Among the highlights of the work is the preface by Silvio Gallo, “Traveling in research”, which offers a philosophical reflection on the act of moving in search of knowledge, and the text by Ana Godinho, “fortuitous occurrence”, which ends the book with a poetic approach to the fortuitous encounters that mark the experience of internationalization.
This book is an invitation for readers from different areas to embark on this reflective and affective journey, which expands the frontiers of knowledge and human development. More than an academic work, “Meanings of Internationalization in Education” It is a testament to the transformations that occur when we allow ourselves to dialogue with the new, with the different, and thus expand our intellectual and personal horizons.
We invite everyone to explore these narratives and reflect on the role of internationalization in the training of researchers and in the construction of new perspectives for education in Brazil and the world. May this work inspire new journeys and dialogues, contributing to the construction of increasingly plural and integrated knowledge.
Let's go together on this journey through new senses and territories!
