Unicamp's Faculty of Education is applying for funding from Participa Campinas with a project that integrates Culture, Innovation and the Democratization of Knowledge.

The project "Scrutinizing Knowledge: Communication, Literature, Culture, Art and Technology in Connection" can be financed with a parliamentary amendment.

The Faculty of Education (FE) of Unicamp is participating in the Call for Proposals “Participa Campinas – OP WR” No. 01/2025 – Tax Amendments 2026 with project, with integrated benefits, focused on Culture, Technology and Democratization of Knowledge and invites the academic community as well as the entire Campinas society to vote on its Project No. 64.

O Project No. 64, “Examining Knowledge: Communication, Literature, Culture, Art and Technology in Connection” meets three integrated fronts from FE-Unicamp: Prof. Joel Martins Public Library, the Computer Lab and the new Communications Studio, connecting education, culture, art and technology under the same purpose — to strengthen civic education, promote democratic access to knowledge and modernize the unit's academic and cultural spaces, which serve society.

The three proposals together will cost R$281.854,78, unified in a project eligible in the first phase of the process, which is currently competing for the popular vote that is open until November 3. 📲 Vote via the link: https://bit.ly/VoteFEUnicamp

The notice, promoted by the Municipal Government of Campinas, received 67 Proposals of non-profit institutions and entities in the Other Topics category. Of these, 58 were considered eligible following the publication of Decree No. 24.091/2026, which redefined the criteria for allocating resources. The initiatives compete for public funds to implement projects aimed at the social, cultural, and educational development of the municipality.

Learn briefly about each of the initiatives proposed by the project:

1) Examining Children's Literature

The project proposes actions to mediate reading and literary production Aimed at children and youth, with the goal of encouraging reading habits, creativity, and reflection on cultural and linguistic diversity at the Professor Joel Martins Library, which recently became public, enjoying both university and public recognition! This dual identity expresses the School of Education's commitment to literary education and encouraging reading among children and youth, uniting efforts for literary and cultural inclusion in Campinas, São Paulo.

Furthermore, the initiative aligns with the SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGs) of the UN, especially to SDG 4 – Quality Education, reinforcing the role of literature and the arts in the formation of critical and creative individuals.

2) Creation of the FE-Unicamp Communication Studio

The project also foresees the creation of a Audiovisual Communication and Production Studio, focused on scientific dissemination, digital inclusion and democratization of knowledge.

The space will allow recordings of podcasts, educational videos, interviews and extension materials, with resources for audio description, subtitles and Libras aiming to contribute to accessibility, one of the Faculty's values.

The studio will serve 36 research groups, 6 academic departments and more than 4 thousand students, expanding the production and reach of FE within the school community, public networks and society.

3) Modernization of the Computer Laboratory and Technical Areas

With a focus on infrastructure, the third initiative proposes the acquisition of ergonomic and functional furniture for the Computer Laboratory and the technical and administrative areas of Computer Science (ICT).
Modernization will ensure better working and studying conditions, adapting the spaces to the demands of the structural reform planned for 2025 and ensuring comfort and efficiency in institutional activities.

Education and citizen participation

And so, FE-Unicamp's participation in the notice, once again, reiterates its commitment to a quality, inclusive and socially engaged public education, aligned with the principles of transparency, participation, inclusion, diversity and collaboration.

The projects integrate academic, technological and cultural dimensions for the direct benefit of the university community and public schools in Campinas and the surrounding area, expanding the dissemination of knowledge and dialogue between universities and society.
